Carters and Martins Visit {Day 3}

*Sorry for photo overload on these, but there are just so many that I love!

We started out Monday morning bright and early for another day packed with sight-seeing. Rob went into the London office to work and was planning on meeting us for lunch and after work.

We started off at the Tower of London, but decided to take a boat tour to get there. It's so fun to see London from the river!

The tour guide mentioned that the sphinxes on either side of this monument were supposed to be faced outward to guard it, but were mistakenly placed facing it and the mistake was never corrected.

Traitor's Gate from the river. This was where Anne Boleyn was brought.

I love the actors that are often at the palaces. They do a fantastic job of helping us to see a glimpse of what life really was like back then.

The Tower of London was a zoo once upon a time (the royal menagerie) and there are neat animal sculptures all around.

The weather was supposed to be warm like it was on Sunday. Sadly Mother Nature played a cruel prank on us and Annette and Grace were freezing! Thankfully for Annette, the Tower gift shop had a sweatshirt in her size. Grace got to wear Benji's buggy muff until we found a shop that sold her size sweaters.

Rob joined us for fish and chips outside the tower while Benji napped on my back.

Next we headed to the City where Rob works. Below is his building.

Just a block from his building is the London Wall, the original Roman wall built around the original city. It's so cool to see the thousands of years old wall juxtaposed with the sleek modern high rises.

We hopped over to St. Paul's from there and while the others went inside, the kids and I shopped for a new sweater for Grace and we had a nightmarish time trying to find a toilet for Ruby to use. Poor girl had a full bladder and not enough sleep and was a tad out of sorts to put it mildly. At one point I dragged her across the street by the arm while trying to keep the buggy from hitting anything/anyone to keep her from lying down in the intersection. She was mad at me for that. What? She's 3 I guess :)

Meanwhile, the Carters and Martins climbed the bajillion steps up to the top. I think I failed to mention it, but Kimmy doesn't like heights, but she was so brave - we pushed her to face her fears many times on this trip and she was great! But that explains why sometimes she's making a scared face :)

Having a little tantrum at the bus stop. Sure Rue, why don't you lie down and roll around on that filthy pavement in your white coat?

We found Carter Lane!

Rob met us after St. Paul's and we went to the London Eye. Another kudos to Kim for being brave!

What an amazing 360 degree view at sunset!

Kimmy clinging to the center bench for fun and Ruby trying it out for kicks too.

Since it was St. Patrick's Day, the London Eye and Big Ben were lit up with green lights.
We were all pooped by the end of another busy day! The girls loved sleeping on the couches together!
