Twickenham

Last night we took a walk after dinner to find the grave of P.L. Travers (the author of Mary Poppins). On the way we found a few surprises! We live in such a cool place! I am going to miss all the amazing history and nooks and crannies that exist here!

As we were walking Rob glanced up and saw this incredible statue hidden in the trees, so he climbed up to take a look. Turns out it's a really lovely public garden that has all of these incredible Carrara marble statues of water nymphs. What a find!

We also found a little play beach that we'll be coming back to!

A cute little side street right by St. Mary's Church

We found St. Mary's Church where PL Travers is supposedly buried, but we couldn't find her grave. The church yard is scattered with tombs and memorials all over, it was so neat and beautiful. We finally asked a lady who was working there if she knew where it was and she told us that no one knew where she was buried there, that she had put it in her will to be kept a secret. We just saw Saving Mr. Banks (about her) and it is so like her to have done that :)

St. Mary's Church itself was really beautiful and very worth the walk.

More pictures from the walk, I'm really disgusted with myself that I didn't get more...it was so beautiful! I guess we'll have to go out again! There's an island in the Thames near there where many famous British musical groups played which will be our next walk destination.

P L Travers was cremated, her ashes were scattered in the church yard which probably explains why you couldn't find her grave!
