Thanksgiving Day started out pretty much like any other day. Aubrey and I ventured out to Kensington Gardens to visit the Princess Diana Memorial Playground. We got separated on different trains, but eventually reconnected and made it (despite the tube station with the lift being broken :( ). And, oh man, was it worth the trip and effort! The inspiration for the playground is Neverland and it really is magical!
This is what we look like most days. All 3 kids on the stroller and me panting behind pushing the load :)
See Grace in the Crow's Nest? She loved being able to climb up to the top!
We met an American while we were there and chatted with her for a bit. Halfway into the conversation one of us realized that it was Thanksgiving and wished all a happy one. It's so strange to know that our families would be watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and playing a turkey bowl or watching football while where we're living it's just business as usual.
There's just not a lot of turkey here in GB we've noticed (lunchmeat is hard to find), but around Thanksgiving, a few stores stock it for the American ex-pats who are willing to spend an arm and a leg for it. We checked out the American Thanksgiving section of our local Whole Foods and scraped together a nice faux-turkey dinner (a.k.a. chicken). We did have all the trimmings (except cranberry sauce) and pumkin pie to boot! It was delicious!
After dinner the kids had a blast playing with some high tech toys, er, boxes and had a blast.
