Monday it was raining so along with most of London, we decided to go to the Natural History Museum. We waited outside in the pouring rain for an hour before going in. That place is incredible! We only saw the dinosaurs exhibit and can't wait to go back!
The Petts waiting in the rain
The ceiling! It's a beautiful building!
Benji thinks he's a big boy now and can ride standing on the roller board instead of strapped into his seat.
After the Natural History Museum we walked a few blocks to Harrods which was surprisingly every bit as nutty as it was 2 days before Christmas.
We saw different departments this time. It's amazing that it was a completely different experience this time! We went to the Disney Store inside Harrods that had costumes of Anna and Else made in limited edition for Harrods for a mere 500 GBP (that's around $750 with the current exchange rate!). They also had these dolls, also limited edition for Harrods for only 250 GBP. Grace "put them on her list" (for her birthday or Christmas) and wouldn't leave without a picture. Poor girl is going to have to settle for this picture:
Lego Santa. He is increible!
The kids were brilliant with all the trains and waiting and running and riding they had to do!
Tuesday, New Year's Eve, we decided to do a less crazy day and just did the British Museum and somehow I didn't get very many pictures of it. Grace was entranced with everything, especially the mummys. She wanted me to read every single plaque we passed. That girl!
We stopped at Giraffe, a favorite restaurant here (mostly because they put a plastic giraffe in your drink and give the kids ballons), for dinner. Then on our walk home along the river on the opposite bank someone lit a pretty decent fireworks show. It was magical and felt like it was just for us. We stopped to watch and the kids squealed with delight and screamed that it was "the BEST DAY EVER!!!" over and over. I love getting the opportunity to walk everywhere. Sometimes it's annoying that I can't just strap the kids into car seats to contain them while we get around town, but nothing beats walking hand in hand with my kids and talking and enjoying this beautiful world Heavenly Father has made for us.
We did an early "New Year" with the 2013 countdown for the kids and a glow stick dance party. The kids were so excited to be with friends that they had a hard time sleeping, but eventually they did.
Here's our Christmas tree post glow-stick rave.
Brent and Aubrey and their kids went home, but the Barons spent the night with us. We chatted and I got to hold their sweet baby until Mandy and I fell asleep. The boys woke us up just in time for the London countdown and incredible London Eye fireworks on the telly.
Sadly, the next day we had to say goodbye to the Barons and they drove home. We're excited for part 2 of our reunion, but in Germany this time!
