Our dear friends from Frisco, the Barons, who are living in Germany for a 3 year work assignment, came to visit us right after Christmas. They brought us some delicious American foods (goldfish, mac and cheese, seasoning packets, miracle whip (you have no idea how much I've missed MW!)). They got in Friday evening and Saturday morning, as bright and early as 6 adults and 8 kids (5 and under) were able to pull ourselves together, we headed out to see the town. Sadly, the District Line (the underground line that runs to Richmond, our home station) was closed the whole time they were here, so it made for some adventurous getting places and train changes (and more changes, and more changes...).
Aww, now there's my sweet Ruby...

The gift shop had a XBox Kinect that put helmets and crowns on those who walked by
There were live action players telling the story of William the Conqueror
The Tower Ravens. Legend has it that if the ravens ever leave the Tower, the monarchy will fall. Good thing for Queen Elizabeth there's a cage!
We actually didn't even make it into the Jewel Tower (what? How did that happen? We'll be headed back soon!), but we did enjoy the White Tower and all of the weaponry and armour displayed there!
It's actually the oldest museum. Back centuries ago, the Kings of England set it up to show visiting dignitaries about the might and power of the English. Also, the armour of Kings is on display there on carved wooden horses. Above left is Henry VIII (in his skinnier days?).
After the tower, we had fish and chips and then hurried over to Princess Diana park before it closed. The kids had a ball playing for a while before the touring resumed.
Benji and Lucy acted out Titanic for us
After getting our wiggles out, we headed to Kensington Palace for some fun. They had crowns for the kids to wear and machines that punched shapes into them as we went along. In the portrait hall they had photo booths (of a sort) set up and dress up clothes.
My favorite exhibit was of the gowns that Queen Elizabeth, her sister Margaret and Princess Diana wore. They were gorgeous. This one was Grace's and my favorite!
